MY DENIM STORY
Denim has always been personal for me. Since high school, my uniform was simple and instinctive—always jeans. My relationship with denim is rooted in a very specific time: the seventies, and the spirit of the seventies. It was then that I formed my taste, learning to trust what felt true to me—emotionally, instinctively. Denim became the base of my wardrobe.
I lived in vintage Levi’s 501s—the most authentic, the coolest—worn with western boots, worn-in tees, and denim jackets. It was boyish, tomboy, effortless. Denim was what I wore to school, to parties, to everything. Over time, it became more than just clothing. Denim is a symbol—honest, utilitarian, endlessly evolving. Its power lies in its authenticity: the fit, the wash, the inherent cool. It’s the piece I reach for most, the one that serves me, makes me feel good, and lives with me.
As I started building my collection, denim naturally became a defining part of my brand. It allowed me to tell the story of Nili Lotan in a more personal, intimate way. Given my deep connection to it, and the tremendous success of our denim over the years, I decided to dedicate a space to it in Tribeca.
Denim has always been more than a piece of clothing. It carries its own personality, its own attitude. When you choose a specific denim, it communicates something about you—ease, confidence, cool, a quiet sense of rebellion. Each style I design is intentional. Each piece is meant to be worn, worked, softened over time. It’s about building a wardrobe around something honest, enduring, and deeply personal.
For me, denim is more than fabric—it’s identity, history, and freedom. It connects who I was as a teenager with who I am now, and it remains the foundation of both my wardrobe and my brand.
