Honoring Nili's Mother's Legacy
“Last year we celebrated what would have been my mom’s 100th birthday. I gathered my two cousins, children, sister and nephews and we shared stories about my mom, who passed away 16 years ago. I announced to them that I was in the midst of preparing a gift for everyone that would carry her legacy. In 1944, the Germans invaded Hungary and my mom was forced to leave her family and their beautiful home to go hide in a small room in a factory where she and her sister worked and hid to save their lives. For two months, she stayed with ten other Jewish girls in that factory, which her father ran. One of them taught my mom how to design and paint textiles. Years later, my mom gave me the body of work she created during that time and I kept it throughout the years.” - Nili
